More U.S. troops in Afghanistan than Iraq

Washington: For the first time since the 9/11 attacks, the United States now has more troops in Afghanistan than in Iraq. There are now 94,000 troops in Afghanistan against 92,000 in Iraq, said the Pentagon.

The number of American soldiers on the ground in Afghanistan is likely to touch the 100,000 mark; while those in Iraq would come down to 50,000.

Afghanistan has witnessed a series of explosions and terror attacks, including against NATO soldiers, in recent weeks. — PTI
