Assange: WikiLeaks forced to close

Julian Assange says his whistleblowing website has been forced to halt all publishing as it fights a financial blockade from some of the world's biggest organisations.

A “blockade” by credit card companies has cost Wikileaks “tens of millions of dollars” in lost funding, Mr Assange told a press conference in London.

The financial problems for WikiLeaks started on Dec 7 last year when Bank of America, VISA, MasterCard, PayPal and Western Union refused to accept donations for WikiLeaks.
