Several Chelsea players had an international break to remember, with veteran midfielder Frank Lampard the pick of the bunch.
The 34-year-old – out of contract at the end of the season – was introduced as a second-half substitute for England, and subsequently scored the winner for Roy Hodgson's side against Brazil.
Ashley Cole also picked up his 100th cap on the night, whilst Oscar impressed for the samba stars. David Luiz also played under the guidance of Luiz Felipe Scolari – a former manager at Stamford Bridge.
Cesar Azpilicueta earned his first cap for Spain in their 3-1 win over Uruguay, with the full-back playing 90 minutes for Vicente del Bosque’s side. Cesc Fabregas and Pedro Rodriguez (2) scored the goals for the World and European champions.
Juan Mata also played in the friendly in Qatar.
Elsewhere, playmaker Eden Hazard was on target for Belgium in their 2-1 win over Slovakia, with loanees Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku coming off the bench for the second-half.
Branislav Ivanovic also got 45 minutes under his belt for Serbia, playing the first period in a comfortable 3-1 win over Cyprus.
