Britain's best waterfalls
Britain's highest unbroken waterfall plunges 328 ft into Gaping Gill, one of Britain's largest and most complex cave systems.
Gaping Gill is a natural cave in North Yorkshire, England. It is one of the unmistakable landmarks on the southern slopes of Ingleborough – a 105 metres deep pothole with the stream Fell Beck flowing into it. After falling through one of the largest known underground chambers in Britain, the water disappears into the bouldery floor and eventually resurges adjacent to Ingleborough Cave.
Britain's highest unbroken waterfall plunges 328 ft into Gaping Gill, one of Britain's largest and most complex cave systems. Although it is usually off-limits to all but experienced cavers, the Bradford Pothole Club sets up a winch for a few days each summer to allow members of the public the chance to enter. The cave is a 90-minute walk from the village of Clapham, via the Ingleborough Estate Nature Trail.
